SUMMER 2010 READING LIST
Grade 5

The Marblehead elementary summer reading lists are the collaborative effort of Marblehead Public Schools and The Abbot Public Library. They are designed to encourage Marblehead students to read often and for enjoyment. Your support and involvement will enable your child to achieve this goal. Remember that reading aloud and listening to audio books with your child are great ways to enjoy the many wonderful books that are available.

Grades four, five, and six each have a “required read” for incoming students. This will give new classmates something in common before they even walk through the door!  Children are also encouraged to read at least one other book.  To help you and your child choose appropriate books, we have included recommendations that span a wide range of reading levels and genres. To read summaries and listen to student reviews of the books, please refer to our library catalog at: http://vil.marbleheadschools.org/library/

We encourage you to visit your public library often this summer to find books and to participate in their summer reading programs. The Abbot Public Library has chosen "Be a Star" for the children's Summer Reading Program theme this year. Each week they will be showing free movies related to a book in the collection. Refreshments included! Record the books you read and participate in entertainment, raffles and prizes!
